Q + A

What is the attire?

Beach Formal/ Chic- Summer suits, linen shirts, linen pants or shorts. Flowy dresses (long or short). Keep in mind, this entire day will be held outside. **see below for photo inspiration**

Is it required to stay at The Hills?

Although we recommend staying at The Hills, it is absolutely not required. We chose this venue for convenience due to the location and amenities, ie. clubhouse with a chef, pool, and its close proximity to the ferry and the town. If you choose not to stay at The Hills we recommend staying somewhere in Cruz Bay for your convenience and proximity to town, grocery stores, and the venue. Please let us know where you plan on staying and if you need help finding somewhere to stay or someone to stay with in a villa at The Hills. We are happy to play matchmaker for anyone that would like to stay at The Hills but doesn’t want to rent an entire villa! We also have a few great recommendations for rentals on the island, one of our favorites is The Flamingo House (their website is listed under the “Travel” tab).

Can I stay at a hotel on St. Thomas?

Yes! The last ferry from St. John back to St. Thomas is around midnight. This gives you plenty of time to get back to the bigger island if you choose to stay there. There are more commercial hotels on St. Thomas if you are looking to use points at a hotel instead of and AirBnB or a VRBO.

Do I need to rent a car?

Not necessarily. There are taxis you can call for rides and this will cost approximately $20 each way. There are few car rental companies on the island to rent a wrangler if you are interested. Renting a car is an ideal way to see and explore the island at your own leisure. There will be a list of local taxi drivers in each villa at The Hills.

What else is there to do on the island?

There's plenty to do on St. John. Stay tuned on the website and events for updates through the week (ie. boat day, dinners, excursions)! The beaches are all public with some great snorkel spots. You can rent snorkel gear for the entire week through some of the shops in town. There are a number of hikes to check out on AllTrails. We have done some and can help find one that would be ideal. Two words= Beach. Bar. This is one of our favorite night caps on the island that almost always has live music and a good time. *FOR MORE INFORMATION SEE "Activities and Hikes" AND "Restaurants and Night Life" TABS!*

Can I bring my children?

We love all of your littles but all events surrounding and including the wedding will be adults only. Individuals over 18 will be receiving an invitation but if they are not over 18, they will not be included in the guest count or on the formal invitation. We encourage you to use it as a mom and dad well deserved time away.

Flight Advice for Chicago Squad:

Direct flights to St. Thomas are only on Saturday (from Chicago). You can usually fly direct from St. Thomas to Chicago with no problems. If you can pack in just a backpack and a carry on, connecting through San Juan, Puerto Rico is great. The catch with PR is that checked bags are not possible and certain carry on bags are also not allowed due to the size of the plane from island to island. •DO NOT CONNECT THROUGH MIAMI!•

When do I have to RSVP by?

Since this is a destination for everyone, we need all of our planning done earlier than a typical wedding. The last day we will accept any responses is March 31, 2025. Yes, one year in advance. This is the expectation from our venue so plan accordingly and keep an eye on flights if you’re planning on being there to celebrate our special day with us. Thank you in advance!!

What if I cannot attend the wedding?

Don't worry! When we get home (probably during the summer) we will have a celebration for those unable to come on the trip! We understand this is not feasible for everyone but that doesn't mean we don't want to celebrate our love with you! If you're unable to attend and this is something you'd like to be a part of, let us know!

Do I need a passport?

Although St. John is a U.S. Territory, it is required to have a passport to leave the island or to island hop. If you plan to rent a boat for a day, you will most likely be headed to the British Virgin Islands. In the BVI, your captain or first mate will grab your entry fee (cash), paperwork, and your passport and go into customs to check your group in. *Keep in mind that you will need an updated passport up to six months PRIOR to the date of travel.
